Anthony Bourdain in San Antonio and the HEB Food Truck Face Off!

I started my new job on Monday...and I jumped right in with a huge deadline looming next week! That means I dont have a new recipe to share just yet.  I literally havent been in my kitchen since last weekend....which is making me twitchy! Luckily, Ive got some great posts coming up. Ill be featuring a yummy apple cobbler for this weeks apple-themed #SundaySupper, then Ill be sharing a Houston Texans-inspired fajita burger featuring Nolan Ryan Beef thats perfect for gameday eating. Ill also share a fun taco recipe when I guest post for my friend Isabel at Family Foodie next Tuesday! In the meantime, I wanted to share some exciting news with my San Antonio/Austin readers. Chef Anthony Bourdains Guts and Glory show is coming to San Antonios Laurie Auditorium on Thursday, November 8th! Im a huge fan of No Reservations, and I love Tonys sharp wit and irreverent sense of humor.  Im so excited to be attending this show and will share the experience in here in November. The good news is that some tickets are still available...so I hope to see some of you there!

In other exciting news, Im going to be taking part in a fun Food Truck Face Off this Saturday. Its sponsored by HEB grocery stores, and its going to be a blast! Four of San Antonios most popular food trucks are going compete featuring recipes that use HEB Primo Pick items. The chefs taking part in the Food Truck Face Off are:

  • Jason Dadys Duk Truck
  • Johnny Hernandezs True Flavors
  • Pieter Sypersteyns Where Yat
  • Michael Anthony Romos MARS Mobile Kitchen

The winner will receive a donation to a local non-profit organization of their choice.  Following the competition, food trucks will be open for normal business. This is a fantastic Saturday activity for families in the community, all while checking out these fabulous food options! For my local readers, come out to the HEB located at Blanco & 1604 between 1000 a.m. and noon this Saturday.  Im so excited to try all the great food, and Ill be taking tons of pictures to share here next week.

By the way, you still have until 1159 tomorrow evening to enter my Aunt Sallys Pralines giveaway! Simply visit Part 3 of my New Orleans food weekend article and leave a comment telling me you want to win a dozen free pralines -- six each of traditional pecan and triple chocolate.
